《国际货运代理》课程立足于复合型跨国人才培养的要求和商科专业学生未来从业的实际需要，通过双语教学，可以让大学生掌握本专业的学术用语，有助于大学生阅读英文原版教材，实现国际接轨，更好的学习专业知识，有助于大学生用外文获取学科专业知识，提高外文文献阅读能力，同时培养和提高学生外语实际应用语言的能力，增加学生进入外企工作的机会。

该课程既是高等院校国际商务专业的专业核心课程，也是其他涉外经贸类专业的方向课程，是一门专门研究国际货运安排合理化的学科，具有很强的实践性，涉及到国际贸易理论、国际贸易实务、国际贸易法律与惯例、报关实务、外贸单证缮制、运输管理等多门课程知识及能力的综合运用。
